Ultramarathon rules for all participants

1. All participants (cyclists and companions) are obliged to act in accordance with these rules and comply with the road traffic regulations of the Republic of Croatia.
2. Cyclists must ride a standard (road, time trial) non-motorized bicycle equipped with light-reflecting elements (sticker, cat’s eye). Bicycles must have front and rear lights. The bikes will be inspected at the technical inspection before the start. You can change bikes during the ultramarathon, but all bikes must be inspected and in compliance with the rules.
3.Night time is from 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. and then it is mandatory to use the front (white) and rear (red) lights, which must be lit without flashing. Violation of this rule will result in disqualification, so have enough batteries / full batteries. In addition, riders must have reflective stickers on the frame (front and rear forks) and wheels (visible from the side). In case of poor visibility during the day, the organizer may request the use of lights outside the specified night time. It is recommended to use a safety vest or other reflective clothing.

4.The use of a bicycle helmet is mandatory for the entire duration of the ultramarathon. The helmet must be certified and properly fastened. In the event that the main sponsor will provide helmet stickers, all riders must wear them on their helmets. Violation of this rule will result in disqualification.
Accident insurance and third party insurance is the responsibility of the participant.

5.The organizer does not assume any responsibility for injuries / loss / theft of people and objects. By signing the entry form, the participant confirms that he is insured against accidents and against third parties in a sufficient amount and with appropriate liability. With the same signature, he confirms that he is familiar with the rules of the competition, that he agrees with them and that he will abide by them.
6.Additions of a stopwatch on the steering wheel are allowed. Discs and wheels with at least three “spokes” are allowed. Recumbent and HPV bicycles are prohibited! In case of doubt, the decision rests with the technical director of the event. The above will be decided on a case-by-case basis, especially with regard to general safety.
7.Sponsorship advertising on jerseys is allowed. An additional official sponsor mark is mandatory if the organizer so decides.
8.Counting of laps is done automatically with the help of chips, which are part of the competition number, and which each competitor must attach to the bike according to the instructions when picking it up. The number may not be cut or altered in any other way. In the case of a spare wheel, the competitor receives 2 numbers. After completion, the numbers are returned to the application service.
9.The ultramarathon is not closed to traffic, participants must comply with the road traffic regulations of the Republic of Croatia. Competitors are responsible for their own safety and the safety of other road users. In case of dangerous driving due to fatigue or drowsiness, the director of the ultramarathon can exclude the participant and order a 30-minute rest.

10. Escort vehicles and personal vehicles or any assistance on the road are prohibited, except in the designated area and upon notification to the technical director. It is forbidden to take refreshments during the ultramarathon from people on bicycles without a starting number and from motorcyclists and motorists, unless it is an official vehicle of the organizer. It is allowed to add food to cyclists with a starting number.
11.Riding in the lee of motorized and non-motorized vehicles of all types, except for other cyclists with starting numbers, is punished by disqualification. The same applies to shortening the route – immediate disqualification.
12.In case the cyclist goes off course, the ultramarathon can continue, but must return to the point where he left the course. He must immediately notify the timing service personally or with the help of a team. He must report the starting number, place and time.
13.During the ultramarathon, participants are allowed an unlimited number of stops. Riding over the start-finish carpet is only allowed for cyclists participating in the ultramarathon.
14.Only fully driven circuits are taken into account in each category. Cyclists can finish the lap they started at least 1 second before the end of the competition time (11h 59min 59s and 23h 59min 59sec). A motorcycle escort of judges will be used to achieve individual or team records. In the case of an equal number of laps and kilometers, the order at the finish line (time of arrival at the finish line) is taken into account.
15.In the event of catastrophically bad weather or extraordinary circumstances, the event manager may decide to shorten or cancel the ultramarathon. In this case, the entry fees are not refunded to the participants. Equally, unused services of the organizer will not be compensated.

16.Cyclists or teams that will withdraw must inform the organizer as soon as possible (return of start numbers and chips at the registration office).
17. Writing/drawing messages on the road surface is prohibited. The costs of removing or cleaning up such fan writing will be imposed on the offending team. This will be dealt with by the responsible persons.
18.Each participant (solo and team) will receive a starting number. The participant is obliged to place the number on the bicycle according to the instructions of the organizer so that it is clearly visible to the organizer/judges. A driver whose number is not visible will be disqualified. It is also used in bad weather conditions.  The start of each individual, regardless of category, will take place with a 30-second interval. The starting order of each cyclist will be announced on the day of the race on the notice board in front of the Croultra Race Office.
19.In the start-finish plane, we will strictly adhere to the speed limit of 25 km/h and the prohibition of overtaking competitors. It is valid from the right turn towards finish line, 30 meter before finish line and before right turning towards passing under the railway. Penalty for the offense for the first time will be a warning (about which the competition team is informed), and every subsequent time 5km will be deleted from the final result achieved within 12 or 24 hours.
20.Adding food and drinks to solo competitors takes place only from the right turn on the road before Stadium Oriovac to the right (20 m before the Amareto bar), Feed Zone is clearly marked, and otherwise exclusively on the right side of the track. The second Feed Zone is located in Slavonski Koboš, at the 8th kilometer of track. So a competitor who wants to pick up a water bottle/food/whatever has to line up on the right side of the track, competitors who continue riding without distractions stay on the left side of the track. In case the competitor further reduces the speed when taking over, it is allowed to overtake him only on the left side. Competitors without a team must stop in their pit.

21.The team consists of two / four drivers. Teams are divided into female, male or mixed, if more than three teams of each type are registered. Otherwise, all teams count as a common category. There must be at least one competitor in a mixed team.

22.Only one team driver can be on the competition track. Team members can change as often as they like, but the change must be made in an officially designated change area. The exchange is done by “give me high five” by touching the hands or touching the upper part of the body of the competitor who will start the track next. In special cases (for example for security reasons), the organizer can take the right to change the provisions of this rule – even during the competition itself – but must inform the teams about the change in time. A team member who started a certain round must finish it in its entirety. “Circle sharing” between multiple team members is not allowed and results in immediate disqualification!!! In case of a bike breakdown or other mechanical issue, the rider can receive assistance from the team but must complete the circuit completely.
23.An appeal against the decision of the competition manager or the behavior of opposing teams or participants is possible with a deposit of €70.00. The deposit is returned in case of a positive solution to the complaint. The objection must be submitted in writing by the participant himself or his team leader during the ultramarathon itself or up to one hour after the end, before the awards are presented.
24.After the end of the ultramarathon, participants receive diplomas with the length of kilometers traveled. The first three in the category receive medals and/or cups.
25.Special awards for achievements such as world record, fastest lap, fair-play or other special achievements will be decided by the event director with the organizing committee before, during or after the event, if there is sufficient reason to do so.
26.The main purpose of this ultramarathon is to bring endurance or ultra cycling to the general public. The financial aspect of the event is in the background. In case of earnings, it will be used for other sporting events.

General rule

Since it is impossible to predict all situations that may occur during the event, the organizer will decide on each unforeseen and unexpected event separately. Warnings, time charges, fines or disqualification may apply. In case of immediate disqualification, the participant is not entitled to any compensation.

Safety, sportsmanship and honesty are fundamental values ​​expected from participants, their teams and organizers. The rider is responsible for the actions of his companions. In case of inappropriate behavior of his support team, the driver can also be disqualified.
